Have You Ever Been Fly Fishing?

A few weeks ago was the first time for me.
Even through the waders, stepping into the snow melt water of the Eagle River sent chills up my spine.
We had our lines in the water before the sun made its appearance over the ridge of the mountains.
The sound of the water rushing over the boulders…
The cool rushing water will carry away any stress if you let it.
As I fell into the rhythm of casting and watching my indicator float downstream…
I’ll admit, the sudden pull on my line startled me a bit.
It was a fish.
A few short minutes later the fish was secured in the net.
Rainbow trout are such beautiful creatures.
After holding it and snapping a couple of quick photos…
I released it back into the cold water.
Catch.
Hold.
Release.
Those three words paint such a beautiful picture for you and I as entrepreneurs.
When you began your entrepreneurial journey you found (catch) certain beliefs and practices.
It was those beliefs and practices that led to your initial successes.
But if you’re not careful, holding on to those same beliefs and practices will hinder your growth going forward.
You see, good advice applied at the wrong time is bad advice.
What was good for you in the early stages often becomes bad for you in later stages.
Discernment is learning how long to hold onto those beliefs and practices.
So that when the appropriate time comes…
You can learn to release…
And let go of the beliefs and practices that once served you.
This is never easy.
But it’s always necessary.
Catch.
Hold.
Release.
What beliefs and practices are you currently holding that may be hindering your growth?
If you don’t know, chances are good they are hindering you.
Your business is in one of the following five stages:
Stage 1: Me (Self-Trust)
Stage 2: We (Trust Others)
Stage 3: They (Trust Systems & Processes)
Stage 4: The Machine (Trust All Three: Me, We, & They)
Stage 5: Destroy It All (Trust None of The Above)
Two final questions for you to ponder:
1️⃣ Which stage are you currently in?
2️⃣ Are your beliefs and practices helping you reach the next stage…
or, are they holding you hostage?
Catch.
Hold.
Release.
You’ve got this…
