Action vs. Intention

As you’re developing yourself and your skills as a leader, it’s important to remember that you judge yourself based on your intentions, but you judge other people based on their actions. 

What does that mean? 

That means that I judge myself based on the fact that I intended to send the person the proposal, but didn’t, so I’m judging myself on the fact that I intended to do it.

But you judge other people based on their actual actions. 

So did they send the proposal or did they not? 

So when we learn to lead other people, we have to understand that we often give ourselves a pass. 

We don’t hold ourselves to the same standard that we’re demanding of other people. 

So when we look in that mirror every day, right, we have to make sure that we’re holding ourselves accountable for our actual actions.

If we’re gonna call other people out on not holding themselves up to their actions and up to that high standard, we need to first look in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable to that. 

So, think about intention versus action. 

Make sure that you’re holding yourself accountable to your actions, not just to your intentions.
