The biggest mistake I see new leaders make is this, they answer instead of ask questions.
So when a team member comes to them with a question, what do they do?
They wanna be helpful.
So they offer the solution, they give them an answer, and instead, as a leader, what you need to do is you need to empower your people to think for themselves.
You need to empower them to make decisions on their own.
That’s never gonna happen if you’re giving them every single answer to every question they have.
So what you need to do is take a sticky note, put it on your desk, on your computer, somewhere in front of you that says, “ask, don’t answer.”
And then when they come to you with that question, turn that into a question back for them.
So what would you do if you were in my shoes?
How would you handle this particular situation?
What you’re gonna do by asking them is you’re gonna train them to think for themselves.
You’re also going to remove yourself as the only person with the answers, and when you do that, you can then begin to scale your business.
